When preparing your body for being pregnant, chart your menstrual cycle, read your cervical mucus, and pinpoint ovulation. Learn ways that boost your chances of conception.

Basics: Exercise moderately, eat right, supplement your diet, get enough sleep and reduce stress. You may also be aware that infertility problems can arise from either the man or the woman, or less commonly, from their unique combination. Probably a good place to begin healing infertility is to give up blaming yourself or your partner. Balancing your body is a gradual thing and takes time.


The food that your eat regularly can have a big impact on how quickly you can conceive. Organically grown fruits, vegetables, meat and fish can do a great benefit in increasing your immunity and potency.

Grow your own fruit and vegetables, if you can. Dark green leafy vegetables are packed with several essential nutrients for your body. Beans, lentils and chickpeas are a rich source of phytoestrogens, which are required in plenty to improve fertility.

Eat meals rich in fruits, vegetables and protein which are good sources of Vitamin C, Beta carotene, antioxidants, folic acid and iron that can help you in getting pregnant quickly. Complex carbohydrates are essential to improve the chances of conceiving. Brown rice, oats and whole grain bread are a good source of complex carbohydrates, which will provide the essential nutrients that you require for conceiving.

Increasing your fiber intake will also help in improving the fertility.

Hydration: Make sure that you drink lots of fluids, especially clean fresh water.

Essential Fats

Essential Fats promote a healthy body and a healthy environment for conceiving. Oily fish such as tuna and salmon, nuts, seed and oils are very essential. Poultry, lean red meat, eggs, dried fruits, oysters and even liver are some of the good body building foods, which should be included in the daily diet.

Essential Oils and Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy, the use of essential oils, is a tangible physical way to move towards health. Essential oils have very, very small molecules. Having small molecules is also what produces the wonderful aromas of essential oils. Open a bottle and immediately you can smell them. If not, it is not a very good grade of essential oil. The molecules of a good, quality essential oil will hop right out of the bottle.

Suggested single oils:
Bergamot, Clary Sage, Fennel, Geranium, Melissa, Sage and Ylang Ylang.

Rub on the Vita Flex areas on the hands and feet. These areas are inside of wrists, around the front of the ankles in line with the anklebone, particularly inside and outside of the foot on either side of the anklebone, and along the Achilles tendon. In addition for men, rub on the lower bowel near the pubic bone and in the area between the scrotum and rectum or use as a rectal implant. In addition, women may rub on the lower back and area of lower bowels near the pubic bone or use as a vaginal wash.

Foods to Avoid

Avoid foods that tend to raise estrogen levels such as wheat, dairy, yams, processed meats and eggs (which can often be treated with hormones, which can influence hormonal levels in your own body). Supplements and herbs that can elevate estrogens should be avoided as well.

Avoid refined and processed foods, sugar, alcohol and caffeine rich foods; all of which deplete the energy of the liver and limit its ability to function properly. Sugar and alcohol drain the body of the B vitamins that are essential to the health of the liver.

Avoid high-mercury fish. Infertility has been linked to mercury. The most common high-mercury fish are tuna, swordfish, mackerel and shark. Avoid farm raised fish too. The best fish to eat are wild caught salmon, halibut and sea bass.

Shitake mushrooms are a worthy addition to the diet as they inhibit abnormal tissue growth in the body; eat them several times a week. Use them as you would any other mushroom.

Herbal Remedies for Female Fertility:
Red clover: A very popular fertility treatment that is high in vitamins, calcium and magnesium. Helps to supply nutrients to the uterus and relax the nervous system. Usually taken in the tea form.
Raspberry leaf: High in calcium and aids in restoring the hormonal balance.
Lady's mantle: Helps to build up the uterine lining and to regulate the menstrual cycle.
False unicorn root: Helps to restore the hormonal balance and stimulate the ovaries and motivate ovulation.
Stinging nettle: Contains high levels of chlorophyll and minerals which helps to regulate hormones, ovulation and menstruation.
Dong quai: Promotes fertility.

Herbal Remedies for Male Fertility:
Astralagus: Improves sperm motility and concentration levels.
Panax ginseng: Increases testosterone levels, sperm count and sperm motility.
Also recommended for cases of erectile dysfunction.
Damiana leaf - stimulates the reproductive system.
Chaste Tree Berry: This herb helps lessen hormonal imbalances. It stimulates the pituitary gland function, thus increasing the production of luteinizing hormone and progesterone which help balance the menstrual cycle. Used daily, it also lowers stress levels, which benefits reproductive health and promotes fertility.
Dong Quai: Aside from balancing estrogen and regulating the menstrual cycle, this herb also improves egg implantation for females with autoimmune problems. But dong quai, a blood thinner, should be discontinued during menstruation.
False Unicorn Root: This herb, which normalizes the ovaries and generally improves reproductive health, must be taken moderately. Too much of it can cause stomach or kidney irritation, vomiting and blurred vision.
Wild Yam : This herb, which boosts progesterone production, must be ingested after ovulation occurs. Taking wild yam before ovulation can stop ovulation and reduce fertility.
